FOOD?

Birdman Eating’s overall menu provided us with a wide selection of dishes to choose from. There were four of us and we ended up ordering a total of seven share dishes and three desserts. Prices range from around $9 to close to $20. There was an extensive wine list which kind of went over my head but I’m sure many patrons would appreciate this.

We started with the ‘Zucchini and Feta Fritters’ which was one of my favourites from the night. I expected them to be oily but instead they were perfectly moist inside and prepared my taste buds for the meal to come. The ‘House Made Terrine with Condiments’ was well presented and appreciated by the table – I could not get enough of that chutney!

Other dishes worth mentioning were the pork belly and juicy steak on the bone. Both had amazing sauces to compliment the meats, I wish there was a piece of bread on the side so I could use it to soak up the sauce and not let it go to waste.

Dessert was quite average, I was a bit disappointed with the ‘Cinnamon Doughnuts’ – without the chocolate sauce the doughnuts were a tad dry inside. The ‘Chocolate and Hazelnut Brownie’ was underwhelming, I guess I was expecting something more than your average brownie.

SERVICE?

We were very happy with the service, our waiter was both knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our table. He provided us with the ‘Specials’ for the night and also gave us suggestions on whether we had ordered enough and which dishes were smaller than others. We did not have to wait long between each dish which is always a plus.

AMBIENCE?

We arrived just after 7pm on a Saturday night and I was surprised to see the restaurant only about half full. However after an hour or so the restaurant was at capacity and there were people lining up outside to dine in. Patrons were willing to wait patiently outside in the middle of Winter, enough said.

VALUE?

Dishes are all under $20 and are designed for sharing. Even though the dishes all add up in the end, in my opinion this was still reasonable as the quality of food presented was high.

BOOKINGS?

Bookings are recommended. You could try your luck if you’re with one other person but you might have to wait a bit.
