FOOD?
Well seasoned meals with vibrant colours were presented to us. To be honest, I haven’t had many ‘eggs en cocotte’ before but after having this at Cafe Vue I’ll definitely be ordering this more often. Another slice of bread would have been nice though to eat with the tomato and capsicum combination. Flavours were pleasing and everyone at our table polished their dishes off nicely.
Coffee was another story, they arrived lukewarm so I had to drink it pretty quick before it went cold. Also to note they do not have skim milk, only soy milk for those lactose intolerant.
SERVICE?
Yes, service was a bit of a let down probably due to the amount of staff to customer ratio. However it wasn’t all that bad and our group was too engrossed in conversation to care much.
AMBIENCE?
We arrived at 10am on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The cafe was already quite busy but still had a few tables free. Loved the floor to ceiling windows as it gives the vibe you are eating outdoors. Lots of chatter from a big mix of parties including families, couples and girlfriends.
VALUE?
Great value for money considering the prices (average around $15 or so).
BOOKINGS?
From the website it states that they do not take bookings unless ordering from the Menu Du Jour. We called a week in advance to confirm this and were told that we should be fine if we arrive at 10am. I was surprised at the amount of people already there when we arrived but we found a table with no troubles. By the time we left there was a line of people waiting to be seated. So just head in early if you’re planning to visit on the weekend!
