Capital Kitchen, Chadstone

Highlight – Convenient location

Lowlight – Quality of food

Meatball tortilla

Meatball tortilla

I was actually quite disappointed with the food at Capital Kitchen. Maybe my dad and I didn’t order the right meals – although I did find the meatball tortilla on the specials board. It was quite dry and probably could have done without the tortilla and needed extra sauce. Dad ordered the steak sandwich which was a let down too. It didn’t look appealing and it wasn’t all that satisfying either. If anyone has suggestions on what to order here I would be more than happy to give them another try!

I would be willing to give Capital Kitchen another go as Chadstone doesn’t really have a wide variety of cafes to offer but would definitely order something else from the menu. I’ll keep you posted!

Nothing to look forward to in the service department. Orders are taken at the counter and there is not much interaction with the waiters. I think the staff could be a bit friendlier here.

Capital Kitchen is located at one of the many entrances to ensure constant store traffic. Probably best for a coffee break from shopping rather than sitting down for a proper meal. I would recommend going to Jones the Grocer instead.

Similar pricing to the newer outdoor cafes around Chadstone which is slightly higher than the food court but I guess that is expected.

Not sure if bookings are available here but don’t think it would be necessary anyway as you have to line up to order and pay at the register prior to eating.

Was extremely disappointed with this place on Saturday. I rang on Friday to ask if we could make a booking and was told no, fair enough. I told the girl I spoke to that we were going there for a birthday and could we bring a cake and was told yes. When we got there on Saturday we ordered coffees, chips, soft drinks for everyone at the table, the waitress brough over plates for our cake, then a young, very rude girl came out and told us we couldn’t have our cake there. I explained to her I had called the day before and asked and I was told that I hadn”t spoken to her (the supervisor) or the manager. I didn’t realise I would need to confirm the information their staff was giving out with a manager. I would have thought it would be safe to assume the staff working there would know their policies and procedures. The young girl implied that I was a liar and insisted we could not have our cake there. I then had to shift my 85 year old grandmother who had just come out of hospital from eye surgery and my mother who is also quite ill. Thank godness for Lindt! We had a wonderful afternoon there and the staff were amazing. Capital Kitchen, we have been coming to you for a long time and quite often but frankly that experience has put me off forever.

      Hi Georgia
That’s very disappointing to hear and I think they may need to change their staff around and/or work on their customer service as there seems to be quite a few complaints on this area…
Glad that Lindt Cafe worked out for you in the end though 🙂
