FOOD?

Recently appointed a chef hat, Livingroom’s food was delightful and well presented on clean white plates. Fine dining restaurants are commonly criticised for their minuscule serving sizes and patrons leaving hungry. However, Livingroom is definitely an exception to the rule, meal portions were more than we could finish (and trust me, 99% of the time my other half will easily finish his meal and mine). Each dish was both impressive and pleasing to our tastebuds.

We started with the colourful beetroot cured salmon with a dollop of horseradish cream and garnished with carefully curled vanilla pickled cucumbers and capers. It was the perfect start to a warm night out. For mains I ordered the rabbit wellington filled with spinach, mushroom, sage and gorgonzola. The pastry was buttery and cooked perfectly to remain flaky on the top.

Our favourite dish of the night was the twice cooked half duck with sautéed spinach, beans and porcini sauce. We could not ask for more! In fact we overheard the table next to us order the same duck dish but only to hear from the waitress that they had run out of duck. Even more surprising was that it was only around 7pm.

SERVICE?

When we first entered the Livingroom we were asked straight out, “Do you have a booking?”. No hello or greeting but I guess they appeared to be quite busy. Due to being understaffed there was quite a bit of waiting time in terms of ordering, getting the bill and paying for our meal.

AMBIENCE?

The venue makes the most of its space with different sizes of wooden tables surrounded by varying chair designs. The decor is well thought out and suits the modern ambience of the restaurant. A seat by the window is more romantic especially during daylight savings.

VALUE?

Great value for quality food and even better if you have the Entertainment Book. They offer two-for-one mains up to $40 value. Otherwise mains average around high 30s to low 40s.

BOOKINGS?

Yes bookings are preferred and can be done via their website or a phone call.
